Are you an engineer that loves building elegant, well-tested, scaleable, maintainable applications and pipelines?

Our team is growing and we’re in need of an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our data platform, data products, and analytics team. This highly cross-functional team is responsible for powering all of the data needs across Homebot, including ETL pipelines, data-based backends, ML modeling, and business intelligence. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about bringing data enablement and data-first architecture to Homebot. You will work closely with product managers, leaders across the company, and other engineering teams to identify high-value problems to be solved within the data stack. You will also support a growing team of engineers and data analysts, including providing mentorship and project management across the team.

This is a full-time position based in our Denver, CO office (hybrid working model), or fully remote within the United States.

Compensation: This role has an annual targeted base salary range of $160,000 - $185,000, plus an annual 10% performance bonus target. You will also be eligible to participate in Homebot’s Equity Appreciation Program. What You’ll Be Accountable For:

  • Leading a team of software and data engineers in building our core data platform
  • Leading our analytics team in providing intelligence and data enablement across the company
  • Supporting, coaching, and mentoring your team in their professional development
  • Setting the teams roadmap in collaboration with your product counterparts
  • Managing your teams efficiency and velocity
  • Growing and managing resources for your team
  • Develop vision and strategy for your team to help set its direction and goals
  • Remain up-to-date on ongoing software development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges, and be involved in design decisions

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other team members through code reviews and occasional pair programming
  • Work with team leaders to inform product road mapping, identifying bottlenecks, bugs, and devising solutions to these problems
  • Understand and influence the vision and overall strategy of our data products and platform
  • You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Business Analytics and Design departments

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in one or more programming languages
  • Experience with data platform development, including ETL pipelines, machine learning, data-driven backend architectures, or batch / stream processing pipelines
  • Experience working with data warehouses, such as Snowflake or Databricks
  • Strong experience in Python
  • Strong experience in SQL
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of multiple software engineers
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, building structuring, and leading technical organizations and teams, including performance management
  • Passionate about developing pragmatic solutions and enabling the team to contribute to the problem solving process
  • Strong interest in mentoring and identifying plans for professional development for team members

Bonus Points:

  • Experience managing a team of data or business intelligence analysts
  • Experience with data visualization or analysis software, such as Tableau, Metabase, or Sigma
  • Experience managing a team of data engineers
  • Strong experience in Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with data quality applications such as Great Expectations
  • Knowledge of ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX
  • Knowledge of infrastructure layers such as K8s and cloud compute platforms such as AWS or GCP
