We are scaling rapidly and are looking for a Lead Front-End Engineer to join our growing Engineering team at Homebot. This role is for an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about enabling a team of engineers with back-end and front-end skills to be successful, both professionally long-term and in the day-to-day. You will work closely with product and design to plan development efforts. You will also support team members through mentorship and 1:1s. Additionally, as a code contributor yourself, you’ll be able to support sprint efforts, spike out work supporting upcoming sprints, and help influence best practices! Our team leads’ responsibilities are roughly split with 50% time in code, 25% planning, and 25% in management.

We are growing and building new teams! Each team’s domain varies and can require different strengths. Our teams are generally full stack in their deliveries so strong experience in both backend and frontend is valuable. This role is for a team that is primarily front-end and we are looking for a lead who is similarly leaning that way in experience.

This is a full-time position based in our Denver, CO office (hybrid working model), or fully remote* within the United States.

Compensation: This role has an annual targeted base salary range of $160,000.00 - $185,000.00, plus an annual 10% performance bonus target and Homebot equity. For additional details on our total benefits package, please review the section “Why Homebot?” at the end of this job description.


What You’ll Be Accountable For:

  • Close collaboration with product, design, and the team to align on execution strategies and product vision
  • Enabling growth for a team of engineers through mentorship and technical leadership
  • Cultivating and instilling company and team values of ownership, communication, and quality of the work delivered by the team
  • You are ready to manage your time across planning, team leadership, and coding
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automation through normal efforts as well as dedicated technology focused sprints like HIP which we have every quarter.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional Software Engineering experience
  • 2+ years of leading a team of 4+ Software Engineers
  • Strong background in React and/or other front-end frameworks (Ember, Vue, etc.)
  • Some experience in Rails and/or other back-end frameworks (Sinatra, Django, etc.), including working with production APIs and databases
  • High proficiency in your domain(s) to support your role as a mentor and solution architect for your sprints. Standard language practices, patterns, and common packages are second nature. You’re on top of new advancements in the communities to advocate for opportunities to improve.
  • Strong interest in mentoring and identifying plans for professional development for team members
  • Passionate about developing pragmatic solutions and enabling the team to contribute to the problem solving process
  • Comfortable in Jest, RSpec, or similar testing frameworks and understand solid testing principles.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working with Postgres, including complex SQL queries
  • Experience working with Redis and ElasticSearch

Collaboration:

  • This role will report to VP, Engineering
  • You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design
  • Team size can vary between 2 and 5 engineers and generally partners with a product manager and a designer.
